Risk

Risk

All about perception and 'eyes open' decisions

It all started when…

...after many years of managing change through projects and programmes I couldn't work out why people didn't really think about risk and what to do about it, but rather resorted to a 'tick the box' approach to following the mandated risk process.  Why was it that the most natural of human skills - to perceive things that might take us towards or away from our objectives and act to make what we want happen - seemed lost when groups of people started thinking about risk?

So I started reading, researching and watching how people behaved and through that found some different ways of helping the teams I worked in and with to think about risk-taking differently.  To think about exploiting or defending risk.  To think about helping others to understand and own risk.

In the publications section you'll see some of the books I've co-authored.

I've helped lots of organisations with risk based problems - from big company and small charity Board level interventions to define risk appetite, to risk culture change programmes, to specific risk analyses for risky investments.

I've been the Director of the Risk in the Boardroom practice in a big4 consultancy.

My work with Eleanor Winton looking at emerging risks and disruptive trends is really exciting - www.disruptiongameplan.com

My work with David Hillson continues and is summarised on - www.making-decisions.com

Would be great to have a conversation.
